Sculpture and instillation piece. This was my theme piece for my show on “Habits.” The idea was to make a little habitat space that represented the safe space kids and adults alike wish they had. A place to retreat and take a break from the outside world. It is also a piece that illustrates the daily practices of eating, sleeping, washing, and collecting.
Materials: Welded steel frame, hand sewn burlap covering with black fabric covered openings, spray paint, christmas lights, plates, silverware, cups, bowls, mirror, soap bar, books (Wind in the Willows and The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night, bed sheets and blanket, pillow, handkerchiefs, various boxes, Coca Cola bottle.
